Deepish, dark red-brown in colour, a smokey bouquet of chocolate and camphor, blackberries, cherries, plums and prunes, moving on to spicey, herbal undertones of walnut and cedar. Notes of chocolate, plum, coffee, and caramel in the moderately intense nose. In the mouth, it's medium to full in body, beginning forward and intense, quite polished, distinguished and long on good fruit. Winemaker comments by Max Schubert: Colour is a medium brick red. Complex and vibrant, sweet, meaty/truffly fruit with perfumed apricot/marmalade and black fruit notes. Concentrated and textured with sweet, briary, apricot-like Now fruit and touches of star anise. Fine dry tannins and excellent length. A remarkable wine.
