Yamazaki is made from the purest ingredients, distilled through the fine art of Japanese spirit making, in complete harmony with the nature environment. Yamazaki Malts are hand produced at Japan's oldest distillery, built by Suntory founder Shinjiro Torii in 1923, situated in the Vale of Yamazaki on the outskirts of Kyoto. The natural surrounds of Yamazaki Distillery are the ideal environment for Whisky making, where the Malt masters draw upon the same, crystal pure waters which are essential and highly renowned for brewing Japan's most refined teas.
Shinjiro Torii introduced whisky to the Japanese market in 1929. Now recognized as the father of Japanese whisky, Torii set out to create a distilled beverage that would appeal to the Japanese palate as well as whisky connoisseurs around the world. Today, Japan is the world's third largest whisky market and Suntory Yamazaki is not only the most popular single malt whisky in Japan, it is also enjoyed around the globe and was ranked the world's ninth best selling Single Malt Whisky in 2002. Yamazaki Malt is aged in an exquisite selection of three barrel types, American, Spanish and precious Japanese Mizunara oak.
