Robert Louis Stevenson wrote in one of his poems
"The king o' drinks, as I conceive it!" Situated on the banks of
Loch Harport, Talisker Distillery was founded by the brothers MacAskill. Talisker later went bankrupt after a proprietor went to jail for swindling on the quality of goods. The Distillery was eventually refurbished after a fire in 1960. Port Ruighe was the once bustling trading port on Skye, the tradition endures as a dram to commemorate the generations of Scottish sailors who laboured to bring stocks of Port wines to the world.
TASTING NOTES
Brilliant gold hues. A powerful peat smoke, hinting at sea water saltiness, citrus sweetness and the liquor of fresh oyster. Succulent sweet notes of rich berry fruit, malt characters and developing warmth, a rich dried fruit sweetness, fragrant barley, warming and intense. At the back of the palate are an explosion of fruits, a warming savoury finish on a length of tropical chocolate orange flavours.
