Louis Roederer is unique in Champagne, retaining the most superior properties in the Montagne de Reims, Vallee de la Marne and Cotes des Blanc. Roederer's vineyards average 97.5% on the official classification scale, Cristal is made exclusively from Roederer Grand Cru grapes. Cristal is only produced in great vintages, when the ripeness of fruit enables a subtle, precise balance. Cristal nevertheless remains first and foremost the first growth of northern Champagne, combining freshness, energy and an exquisite, crystal mineral sophistication. The Cristal hallmarks are evident with each vintage, purity, precision and a unique harmony of flavours. An elite coterie of Champagnes defined by exceptional quality and enduring good taste. Following the harvest, grapes must be brought to the winery in nothing but peak condition. Cristal is made from the finest cuvee pressed, in recent times, a fifth of the wine is matured in oak while being treated to weekly battonage. The traditional Liqueur dosage, prepared from Roederer Reserve wines, contains approximately eight grams of sugar per litre, varying slightly from vintage to vintage. Cristal ages for an average of five years under cellar and rests eight months following disgorgement.
TASTING NOTESBrilliant hues, lively, creamy mousse. An intensely elegant, rich, ripe bouquet, apples and fleshy fruit, oranges, acacia and vanilla bakery notes. Full bodied, well rounded, sun drenched richness, fleshy fruit combined with warm butteryness, citrus bubble and limestone complexity, elegance and grace, a deliciously lingering, seemingly endless, sensuous finish. |
