A Clan with a long and proud history, Muirhead were the Royal Bodyguard of King James IV. At the battle of Flodden Field in 1513, James and thousands of Scottish patriots perished in the largest battle ever fought between Scotland and England. Conspicuous amongst the casualties was John Laird of the Muirhead and two hundred of his clansmen.
