Grant Burge has been awarded every major accolade in Australia, including the Jimmy Watson, Stodart, and Montgomery Trophies. Planted in the early 1920s, the Filsell Vineyard is the source of Grant Burge's flagship Meshach Shiraz. This distinguished site produces just on 1½ tonnes of fruit per hectare, Shiraz of the greatest concentration. The separate batches of fruit are crushed and fermented separately. The inoculated juices reach 28C at the start of vinification before a cooling to 22C. Pumped over thrice daily, the skins are gently pressed before transfer to oak for the completion of fermentation. Filsell was matured in a mix of new and two year old American and French oak hogsheads for twenty months.
