Tobacco Road, Coldstone, Dividing Range, and Snowy Creek are the brands within the group. The operation boasts one of the country's finest cellar doors and produces some of the most innovative and awarded wines. The commitment to quality is un-compromising. Victorian Alps employs a team of excellent winemakers who are willing to throw their thoughts into the ring. They have virtually unlimited access to ultra premium cool climate fruit, grown by the partners in the business. And they have a large modern winery producing a small premium product.

In 1851 the Michelini's began growing grapes and making wine in the Trentino Alto Adige region of the Italian Alps. Emo Michelini arrived in Sydney in 1949 at the age of 25, and two years later with his wife Olga moved to the Buckland Valley where he began share-farming with several other Italian families, growing and curing tobacco. Looking for a source of fruit from cooler climates as blending material for their existing warmer sites, the Barossa based Orlando Wines approached Emo in the early 1980's and discussed the possibility of developing a vineyard in the region.

Nestled in a hidden valley, with unsurpassed views of Mount Buffalo, the shaley hillside plantings give rise to low yielding vines and wines of intensity and finesse. For winemaker vigneron couple, Eleana Anderson and Bryan Nicholson, the small range of Mayford Wines is the culmination of many years of toil together, which accounts for a large number of lost weekends and fishing opportunities. The creation of limited quantities of handcrafted wines is underpinned by a unique site in the foothills of the Victorian Alps, sensitive vineyard management, traditional winemaking practices and the staunch support of family and friends.

Gapsted Wines is the premium brand from the Victorian Alps Winery. Small parcels of fruit are hand selected and crafted into these meticulous wines of distinction. The range focuses on single varietals and innovative wines, including the Gapsted Ballerina Canopy series, Gapsted Limited Release and Gapsted Valley Selection. The Victorian Alps winery was established in 1997 by six great friends who were also wine professionals. Their extensive experience in the industry and their passion for the region were central to the success of the winery over its relatively short existence. In 1999 the first wines were released under the Gapsted brand and in 2001 the stunning and award winning Cellar Door was opened.

The Fowles family remain very much at home amongst the rugged Strathbogie Ranges, their wineworks were established astride a striking granite massif that rises to over five hundred metres above sea level. They are surrounded by a multitude of dramatic granite outcrops that burst from the surface of these ancient highlands. The region provide great conditions in which to grow fruit: In the coolness of spring the vines produce only small berries and the ensuing low rainfall and the intense summer sun gives rise to a fruit that is dense in colour and flavour. Energetic and enterprising, they continue to break new ground by bringing the Strathbogie Ranges message in a bottle to the world.
