Originally a sheep station dating back to the 1800s, the fertile soils around Jamiesons Run now yield some of Australia's most esteemed wines. Few labels in the nation can lay claim to have accompanied so many memorable meals over the course of decades. A generously flavoured wine with good depth of flavour and long, finely textured finish, soft and satisfying immediately upon release, the Cabernet of choice to accompany charred pork sausages or porcini and red wine polenta.
The Jamiesons Run vineyards are endowed with outcrops of red soil that sit above a hard layer of limestone, unique terrains which encourage the development of intense characters in the fruit. Cabernet is harvested from low yielding vines up to thirty years of age. Single wire trellising and cooler conditions ensure the grapes maintain good varietal character and exceptional depth of flavour. Following the crush, fruit is treated to a gentle, controlled vinification and twice daily pumpovers in a combination of rotary and static fermenters to extract the rich Cabernet flavours. Upon completion, components are matured for up to a year under a selection of French and American oak prior to final assemblage.
TASTING NOTES
Deep garnet red. Warm ripe lifted aromas of mulberry, cherry jam, choc-mint and mocha with a hint of light tobacco and fine cedary oak. Well defined lifted aromas. Medium bodied, finely structured palate showing good regional dark mulberry, cherry and black currant leaf. Good fruit flavours over layers of dark fruit cake, choc-mint and mocha oak. Fine slightly dusty savoury tannins blend together to contribute to the soft velvety textured palate.

About the Jamiesons Run Winery
The original Jamiesons Run was a remote outback sheep station owned by the Jamiesons Brothers in the mid 1800's
Jamiesons Run, based in the heart of the famous Coonawarra region was named as a tribute to it's pioneering past. Two men separated by time and distance laid the foundations for Jamiesons Run's creation. The first was Alfred Deakin, Australia's second prime minister with the assistance of Canadian irrigation experts William and George Chaffey and the second was John Riddoch. Jamiesons Run»
