Previous vintages have claimed Trophy Citadelles du Vin France and multi Gold Montreal, Singapore and UK, Russia and Japan. A solidly structured wine with exuberant aromas of gooseberry, grapefruit and pineapple, complimented by layers of rich flavour, impressive weight and excellent length. Surely one of the most powerful and intense Marlborough Sauvignon Blancs, with one of the longest ever finishes, an array of flavours and bouquet which continue into infinite.
Gravitas has a policy of handpicking all grapes. Careful leaf plucking, shoot thinning and removal of excess grape bunches by hand during vintage keeps the yields very, very low (25-50% of the regional average, depending on the vineyard block) A range of 6 clones/rootstock combinations were picked at separate times, whole bunch pressed for gentle extraction, fermented individually in tank at moderate temperatures so that the fruit characters were maintained. The wines were left sur lie for three to four months, to break down the yeast cells, adding luxurious flavours and palate textures to the final wine. A small percentage of juice was fermented warm in small oak barrels to help add further texture and length. Alcohol 13.5%
TASTING NOTES
Mid straw hues. Bouquet exudes gooseberry and nettle, currants, citrus and grapefruit notes. The unique Gravitas terroir adds mineral richness, creamy suggestions of oak though none used, infused through several months of battonage on sedimentery yeast lees. An elegant, clean and refined, lemon and green bean finish.

More About Gravitas Wines
Behind Gravitas is a fifth generation New Zealand family whose forebears arrived in the country from France a century ago
Gravitas wines are sourced entirely from estate vineyards in Marlborough. Apart from wine, the family business is also developing other luxury gourmet products, including black perigord truffles and ultra-premium olive oils. Marlborough's Wairau Valley is a spectacularly beautiful part of New Zealand, Land of the Lord of the Rings. An hour or so from the vineyards can be found the snow-capped St Arnaud's Mountain Range and ski-fields, the world-renowned Kaikoura whale and dolphin sanctuaries, deep limestone caves, the primordial forests of the Nelson Lakes National Park and the endless and empty white sand beaches of the Able Tasman National Park.
