R, only ever applied to wines drawn from the great Muscat vineyards of the region. The Campbell house style is typically complex and elegant, encapsulating a rainbow of raisin fruit flavours. Sensational if enjoyed chilled as aperitif, great with blue cheese and fruit bread, divine with espresso and plum pudding.
Made exclusively from Rutherglen fruit, Muscat a Petit Grains Rouge or Brown Muscat, from the Campbell estate vineyards. Each season grapes are picked after prolonged ripening to ensure optimum balance, sugar levels and complex raisin characters. The wine is assembled through a traditional and painstaking solera process of barrel cycling. The finished cuvee contains components from a number of vintages over many years, maintaining the profound Campbell of Rutherglen house style. Already fully aged and tuned for optimum flavour balance at time of bottling, Campbell Rutherglen should be enjoyed soon after opening. Alcohol 17.5%
TASTING NOTESBright amber gold, copper hues. Fresh raisin fruit backed by a hint of grape spirit and aged oak characters rise from the glass. The palate is luscious and lingering with plenty of sun ripened raisin fruit, so essential of Rutherglen Muscat. The acid balance and tannin from barrel ageing prevents the wine from being cloyingly sweet. Luscious mouthfilling raisined fruit combine with oak to produce a wine of great length.
