More About Narkoojee Wines
Narkoojee is a boutique winery committed to the production of premium quality wines, reflecting both varietal and regional character
Narkoojee, meaning “place of flowers”, was a dairy farm owned and operated by Edna and Athelstan Friend, since the early 1940s. Their son Harry planted the first experimental vines back in 1980. Narkoojee had very humble beginnings with the cellar door operating out of a small weatherboard bungalow at the back of Harry and Val Friend’s house. The grapes were taken to the old butter factory in Glengarry, where the wines were made. Today Narkoojee has a five star state-of-the-art winery that was officially opened on 10 December 2004 by the Hon. John Brumby MP, Treasurer of Victoria and Minister for State and Regional Development.

More on the Mount Pierrepoint Winery
Mount Pierrepoint Estate specialises in making Pinot Noir wine, which is quickly being acclaimed as a quality cool climate Pinot Noir
Mount Pierrepoint was named by Major Thomas Mitchell in 1836. Mitchell arrived in Australia in 1827 to become the Surveyor-General of the colony of New South Wales, a position he held for 27 years. He was responsible for the placement of roads, bridges and towns, and as a result of leading four expeditions of exploration, he carried out most of the surveys of Eastern Australia, which lead to new grazing lands being established in southern Victoria. Mitchell named the area after Major Charles Pierrepont who served with the 26th Regiment of Foot and fought in the Napoleonic Wars. Pierrpont was killed in 1812 during the attack on the hornwork at Burgos, Spain.

About Mount Mary Winery
Established 1971 by John and Marli Middleton, Mount Mary was one of the first sites planted during the resurgence of interest in Yarra Valley wines
The inspiration behind the planting of vines in the Yarra Valley came from Swiss settlers of the 1850’s. These worldly and hard working immigrants had been greatly influenced by French wines and recognised the climatic parallels the Yarra Valley shared with Bordeaux and Burgundy. After extensive visits to the wine producing areas of the world in the late 1960’s, and in particular those of Bordeaux and Burgundy, John and Marli Middleton became fixated on French premium wine. They resolved to find a suitable site upon which to establish a small commercial vineyard with the intention of making elegant, low alcohol wines from French varieties. John was obsessed at this stage with an idea put in his head by Colin Preece of Great Western, that Australia was yet to produce a refined and elegant Cabernet. John saw it as his duty to work towards this.

More on the Mount Langi Winery
The vineyards of Mount Langi Ghiran are nestled between two dramatically beautiful mountain ranges on the southern edge of the Great Dividing Range in Western Victoria, 180 km west of Melbourne
Pronounced "Mount Langee Jeeran", the name is Aboriginal for "Home of the Yellow-Tailed Black Cockatoo". The initial vineyards were planted by the Fratin brothers in 1963, on the site of a vineyard that had been in operation at the turn of the century. Their first plantings were Shiraz, and initially, the grapes were sold to neighbouring winemakers. The exceptionally high quality of their fruit quickly drew a strong following and encouraged the Fratins to begin making their own wine.

More About Mount Burrumboot Winery
Mount Burrumboot Estate was born when the wine bug bit Andrew and Cathy Branson
In 1999 they planted vines on the Home Block of the Branson family farm 'Donore', located on the slopes of Mount Burrumboot, on the Mount Camel Range above Colbinabbin. Originally the vineyard was just another diversification of an already diverse farming enterprise of cereals, prime lambs and irrigated clover hay. The first wine was made in 2001 by contract, and 2002 saw the first vintage wine made by Cathy in the machinery shed, surrounded by headers and tractors. The original primitive winemaking operation was eventually refurbished into a new 50 tonne winery in August 2002.

About the Morris Winery
After five generations of Rutherglen viticulture and unprecedented success at international competitions, David Morris has emerged as one of Australia's most outstanding winemakers
Morris Wines, established in 1859, is the continuing story of five generations of family winemakers. George Francis Morris established his vineyard and winery near Rutherglen in North Eastern Victoria. He planted a trial vineyard plot of ten acres at Fairfield two miles east of the current Morris Mia Mia winery location. By 1885 Morris planting's had grown to over 200 acres making them the largest wine producer in the Southern Hemisphere. By the late 1890s the devastating spread of Phyloxera, an aphidlike insect that attacks and kills vines, crippled the Rutherglen district.
More About Moorooduc Wines
Established 1982 by Richard and Jill McIntyre, Moorooduc Estate is a small, family run wine business which has developed an enviable reputation for complex, food friendly wines
All the wines are made on site at the estate's rammed earth winery. From a very modest 20 tonne winery set up in 1987, Moorooduc now have a more sophisticated facility with a small but high quality Bucher press and Vaslin – Bucher destemmer. The philosophy of everything that's done at Moorooduc is to make the most of top quality ingredients. Intensive, hands n care in the vineyard, with minimal use of chemicals, produces the best possible fruit for wine. Wild yeast ferments and minimal intervention winemaking, with a nod to traditional Burgundian techniques, allow the wines to express their specificity of site and terroir. Similarly, Moorooduc aim to source ingredients for accompanying foods that are seasonal, local and organic. The emphasis is on gentle winemaking methods with important quality control.
More About Monichino Winery
Monichino are all about honest wines made from good fruit, grown to a greatly loved vineyard, by fair dinkum people with endless passion
The rolling hills of Italy's Piemonte and the flat plains of Victoria's Goulburn Valley are worlds apart. The classic tradition of wine making however, has transferred flawlessly from one hemisphere to the other. When Carlo Monichino migrated from the Asti region of northern Italy, he brought his winemaking skills with him. Carlo and Margaret Monichino established their first vineyard on the Australian continent at Katunga in central Victoia's Goulburn Valley in 1962. The Monichinon family recognized that the rich soil and excellent climatic conditions make this region ideal for grape growing. Vines were first planted here during the 1880s, one of the oldest and most enduring grape growing regions in Australia.
About Mitchelton Winery
In 1967 Melbourne entrepreneur Ross Shelmerdine commissioned wine industry stalwart Colin Preece to find the best site for premium wine grape growing anywhere in south eastern Australia
Preece chose an old grazing estate, then known as Blackwood Park, in the Nagambie district in central Victoria for its climate, soil and proximity to the waterways. The site's history stretches back to 1836, when the explorer Major Thomas Mitchell crossed the river on his 900 kilometre journey from Sydney to Melbourne, at a place called Mitchellstown. Ross Shelmerdine called his fledgling winery Mitchelton, a derivation of Mitchellstown and the vineyard's first sod was turned in 1969. Don Lewis joined Preece for the fledgling winery's first vintage in 1973, and assumed the winemaker's mantle when Preece retired in 1974. That same year, Mitchelton's winery and spectacular cellar door complex, designed by renowned Australian architect Ted Ashton and complete with 55 metre tower, was officially opened.
More About Miranda Wines
Sam Miranda is the third generation of a prominent winemaking family who moved from Italy to Australia in the 1930s
Sam grew up amongst the vines in Griffith but he eventually became aware of the quality of King Valley fruit as growers would drop by to sell their harvests. Sam became highly enthused by tales the growers would tell him of the natural beauty of King Valley and the excellent conditions for growing world class fruit. Griffith and King Valley share a vibrant culture of Italian migrant agriculture, in 1991 Sama made the journey and fell in love with the picturesque beauty of Victoria's high country. Sam loved the fresh style and complex structure of King Valley wines. He acquired a 70 hectare property in 1997 on the corner of Snow and Whitfield Roads. He made his King Valley operations complete when he established a winery and cellar door in the following year.

More on the Michelini Winery
Michelini's is a well-established award winning, family owned wine company located at the heart of the Alpines region in Victoria
In 1851 the Michelini's began growing grapes and making wine in the Trentino Alto Adige region of the Italian Alps. Emo Michelini arrived in Sydney in 1949 at the age of 25, and two years later with his wife Olga moved to the Buckland Valley where he began share-farming with several other Italian families, growing and curing tobacco. Looking for a source of fruit from cooler climates as blending material for their existing warmer sites, the Barossa based Orlando Wines approached Emo in the early 1980's and discussed the possibility of developing a vineyard in the region.

About the Merricks Estate Winery
One of Mornington Peninsula's founding estates, Merrcks Estate endure as a custodian of some wonderful old vines and the traditions of a great winemaking region
Merricks Estate label is an 1821 lithograph by Louis de Sainson entitled Habitation de Pecheurs de Phoques au Port Western. The earliest printed image of Victoria, dated two years before the founding of Melbourne. It depicts a sealers camp between Merricks and Point Leo beach. The vineyard covers more than 3 ha and production varies between 1500 and 3000 cases, according to the season. Seasons can vary dramatically. While the location is magnificent, it comes with often difficult weather, especially in late spring and early summer when the vines are flowering and the new leaves offer little protection from gale-force winds and blinding rain. In such conditions, viticulture is crucial.

About the Mayford Winery
High above Ovens River, overlooking the sleepy township of Porepunkah, the family owned and operated Mayford Vineyard lies tucked away from view
Nestled in a hidden valley, with unsurpassed views of Mount Buffalo, the shaley hillside plantings give rise to low yielding vines and wines of intensity and finesse. For winemaker vigneron couple, Eleana Anderson and Bryan Nicholson, the small range of Mayford Wines is the culmination of many years of toil together, which accounts for a large number of lost weekends and fishing opportunities. The creation of limited quantities of handcrafted wines is underpinned by a unique site in the foothills of the Victorian Alps, sensitive vineyard management, traditional winemaking practices and the staunch support of family and friends.

More About Massoni Winery
Massoni Wines of Mornington was established by legendary Melbourne restaurateur Leon Massoni in 1984
Massoni's passion for fine wine was influenced by his family’s involvement in establishing such culinary icons as Melbourne’s Florentino Restaurant in 1928 and through his relationship with his uncle, master winemaker Jimmy Watson. Over the years, Massoni have focused on making wines that enthusiasts would choose to enjoy with their family and friends. In 1990, Ian Home, founder of Yellowglen, became a partner in the business and introduced Pinot Noir and Lectus sparkling wine to the product range. In 1996 Ian visualised the need to expand the company’s source of ultra premium grapes beyond the Mornington Peninsula, whose erratic meso climate and limitation in supplying quality chardonnay and pinot noir restricted the product range Massoni was able to offer.

More on the Lucinda Winery
Lucinda Estate vineyard was established 1990 on an easterly aspect of Leongatha which allows the fruit to gain maximum benefit from the early morning sunshine
Lucinda Vineyard overlooks Knox’s Hill, a benign old volcano, grown to ancient red Ferrosols. The rich fertile volcanic soils, very fertile and high in organic matter, play an important role in the quality and characteristics of fruit. South Gippsland’s cool climate allows for a long ripening period, ideal for the development of complex and flavoursome wines. The enduring philosophy at Lucinda is that You can’t make good wine from bad grapes. It's very important when growing grapes that everything about the viticulture is spot on and reflects the soil, climate and aspect of the vineyard. But it’s the variations in seasons which bring each vintage alive with immense flavours and aromas. No two years are ever the same, Lucinda look forward to the new flavours each vintage brings.

About the Lightfoot Sons Winery
About three hours east of Melbourne, the Gippsland Lakes District is located between the Great Dividing Range and Bass Strait, a region that's famed for the large areas of National Park and State Forest, as well as the scenic Gippsland Lakes System
Gippsland as a wine region defies easy classification. It is technically a zone under the Australian GI system, rather than a winegrowing region of its own. The area is large and viticultural areas dispersed, however, throughout all precincts of Gippsland, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay are the predominate grape varieties. The Bairnsdale sub region has lower annual rainfall than the rest of Gippsland and enjoys coastal climate which provides sea breezes throughout the growing season. Bairnsdale's cool semi maritime climate has proven to be particularly well suited for Pinot Noir and cool climate styles of Chardonnay and Shiraz.
About Lethbridge Winery
Quality, without compromise, is central to the Lethbridge philosophy. The aim is to produce European accented wines which focus on balance and texture, made to be enjoyed with food
Lethbridge Wines grew from a friendship between Adrian Thomas, Ray Nadeson and Maree Collis. All three were busy establishing careers in science and medicine and shared a love of great wine which grew to be an obsession. Soon the afternoons sipping burgundies were replaced by weekends searching for the perfect vineyard site and then by afternoons digging holes and planting vines. For two of the partners (Maree and Ray) the passion for wine drove them to a sea change, and in 2003 after 7 years of balancing careers in science and running a vineyard and winery, they made Lethbridge Wines their reison d'etre. Maree Collis and Ray Nadeson are not your average winemakers of a boutique winery. Both were initially trained as research scientists and hold PhD degrees in chemistry and medicine, respectively. While combining their scientific careers with winemaking, Maree and Ray completed the winemaking degree at Charles Sturt University.
More on the Kooyong Estate Winery
The Kooyong Vineyard and winery are located at Tuerong on the northern end of the Mornington Peninsula
Kooyong Estate was established on a gently undulating 93 hectare property neighbouring Devilbend Reserve, home to many native water birds. The Kooyong name means where the wild fowl gather. The vineyard and winery are part of the Gjergja family domain which also includes Port Phillip Estate. Compared with more southerly vineyards on the Mornington Peninsula, Kooyong experiences a warmer, drier climate, and the light, sandy clay soil is also less vigorous than the more typical rich loam of the region. The winemaker is Sandro Mosele.
About Kennedy Winery
The Kennedy Vineyard is located on prime land along the east facing slope of the Mount Camel Range on Heathcote’s famed Cambrian soil
John and Patricia Kennedy spent their childhood on farms and have a genuine love for the land and the way of life. In 1981 they began wheat and sheep farming at Corop in north central Victoria. They started with basic machinery, quality soil and plenty of enthusiasm. In 1982 the Kennedys ventured into growing tomatoes. The fact that they had no experience in this form of horticulture was given only passing concern. In 2001, while still growing tomatoes and cereals, they decided to acquire land on the Mount Camel Range. This land has been prized for cereal cropping and in later years much sought after for grape production.
About the Keith Brien Winery
A former commercial pilot, Keith Brien gave up his career in the clouds to start a new life from the ground up
Keith trained with prestigious winemakers in the Burgundy commune of Pommard, founding the Cleveland wineworks on the Macedon Ranges in 1989. He continues to observe, teach and participate in viticultural and winemaking experiences throughout the world. Brien quickly learned that a combination of the most up to date technology and traditional practices produce the finest wines. He also learned that as vines grow older, they begin to struggle and produce lesser yields of more expressive grapes. The fruit of Old Vines is highly prized because of its intensity and depth of character, a quality for which there is no substitute in the art of winemaking. The fruit for the Old Vines Vincenzo range comes from plantings established in the early 1960s. The gnarled, fully mature vines show a natural suitability to the rugged soils and warm climate.

About Jasper Hill Wines
The aim is to make great wine, with the preservation of nature's flavours, complexities and balance by using minimal intervention in the vineyards and in the cellar - to allow the individual vineyard's sense of place to express itself
Jasper Hill are produced entirely on the estate using organic/biodynamic principles. The estate produce their own organic compost and have never used synthetic chemicals on either the vines or the soils, since vineyards were planted in 1975. Viticultural practices are as close to nature as possible: own rooted vines (ie. not grafted on to American rootstocks to confer Phylloxera resistance), no irrigation whatsoever, minimal tillage, natural inter-row mulching leading to broad bio-diversity, in turn giving depth and intensity to our wines. Only hand pruning of the vines and hand harvesting of the fruit can allow the human connection to the living soil.

Ancient writings tell an endearing tale of about a King of Persia named Jamsheed
An ancient Persian king, Jamsheed was said to be able to see his kingdom in a cup of wine, and whose fondness for fresh grapes lead him to store them in jars over winter where they would inevitably spontaneously ferment and be set aside as poison. One of King Jamsheed’s harem, despairing of frequent migraines, chooses to commit suicide by drinking from a poisoned jar. She wakes to find herself miraculously cured, informs her king who is most pleased and sets about making more jars of this splendid poison. "Saqi, bring me wine and nothing else; Bring the wine that makes men free. A wind is stirring in the sky, you said. Until it comes, my love, pour wine for me!"
