Vintage Perle is uncompromisingly sophisticated, the gem of the Yellowglen portfolio. As with all premium Yellowglen, Perle is driven by the intensity of Pinot Noir and finesse of Chardonnay, grown to vineyards which are husbanded to produce exclusively sparkling wines. Impeccably balanced with elegant mousse and rich textural mouthfeel, the palate is laden with beautiful berry flavours, citrus notes and hints of quince which develop into complex nut and yeast characters. Perle is further enhanced by an addition of the aromatic Pinot Meunier.
Yellowglen source the finest harvests, to be artisanaly fashioned around a backbone of fruit from exceptional estate vineyards in Yarra Valley. Exclusively free run juices from the first pressing are considered, only the best of these make the grade. All base wines are treated to malolactic, followed by contact with primary yeast lees for up to ten months, before racking and ageing, techniques which achieve layers of complexity, textures and effervescence. The final wine is a judicious assemblage of over fifty different components. Further complexity is derived from the addition of an oak matured liqueur wine at expedition, followed by a minimum of three years on yeast lees within its own bottle.
Vibrant yellow hue, a constant stream of fine, delicate bubbles. Biscuit and brioche notes derived from maturation on yeast lees, the citrus Chardonnay characters of peach, limes and quince. A dominance of Pinot shows strawberry and red currant flavours, Chardonnay brings lightness and elegance, grapefruit, hazelnut and mineral notes follow, before a long and lingering, creamy finish.
