George Wyndham became father of Australian Shiraz after planting the nation's first commercial Shiraz vineyard in 1830. The enduring Bin series is the most approachable range of wines within the Wyndham portfolio, high quality efforts which reflect the generosity of style which has made the Wyndham label famous. Once crafted by the legendary Nigel Dolan, Bin 555 has been refined into an elegant Shiraz exhibiting ripe fruit flavours, as supported by fine oak and sleek tannins, the long, persistent palate culminating in a smooth and lasting finish.
Parcels of Shiraz exhibiting intense varietal characters, essential for the Bin 555 style, are harvested at full maturity, the best possible harvests of fruit to produce a rich, round and generous wine with great depth of flavour and good solid structure. A temperature controlled vinification throughout ten to twelve days in a combination of static and rotary fermenters is managed to a strict cap management regime which extracts deep colour and rich fruit flavour while striking the optimal balance of tannin. Upon completion the finished wine is treated to maturation in a combination of predominantly American oak hogsheads for a year prior to assemblage. Alcohol 14.0%
TASTING NOTES
Crimson red with vibrant purple hues. Lifted aroma of plums and clove, chocolate and mocha supported by vanillin oak. A generous palate with up front plum fruit flavours complimented by dark cherry characters and freshly ground spice. The luscious fruit is supported by fine savoury tannins and subtle oak, all contributing to a clean, persistent finish.

More About Wyndham Wines
For more than 170 years Wyndham Estate has set the benchmark for quality Australian wines, proudly wearing the title of 'industry pioneer' responsible for launching Australian wines onto the world stage
English immigrant George Wyndham began this most important page in Australia's winemaking history in 1828 when he planted his first vineyard at Dalwood, along the banks of the Hunter River, in New South Wales. Seven years later Dalwood Wines, as it was then known, released its first vintage to rave reviews and by the mid-1800s was exporting to England and India. Wyndham»
