Mike Press is one of the nation's most experienced winemakers. After a long and distinguished career, which began under the tutelage of the legendary Max Schubert, Mike settled on a site at Lobethal in Adelaide Hills to grow grapes during a term of semi retirement. He chose his ground well, he lives comfortably amongst the vines and is delighted every year with harvests of the finest fruit. The undulating aspects and favourable mesoclimes of Mike's vineyard yield a quality of Chardonnay which has been repeatedly listed in the illustrious Halliday 1OO.
The ideal growing seasons and measured rainfalls of Adelaide Hills make complex yet elegant Chardonnay wines. The twenty four acres, single vineyard Kenton Valley property was selected by Mike Press on the basis of its cool microclime, its optimal altitudes of 500 metres above sea level and level of precipitation that's similar to many of the great winegrowing regions in the old world. Vines are all closely managed, a priority is placed on quality over quantity. Chardonnay is hand harvested throughout the cool of early morning to retain the pristine fruit characters. Grapes are treated to a cool vinification and bottled unoaked, to capture and preserve the immediacy and vitality of Adelaide Hills Chardonnay.
TASTING NOTES
Light pale straw hue. A vibrant nose of grapefruit and melons, apples and nectarine, a discernible, highly regional Adelaide Hills bouquet. Crisp and refreshing palate brimming with layers of fruit, grassy notes, minerality and complexity provide interest. A length of stonefruit flavours are balanced by aromatic grapefruit characters before a clean acid finish.

More About Mike Press Winery
Mike Press Wines are located in the internationally acclaimed Adelaide Hills, setting the benchmark for quality wine at an outstanding price
With a string of awards, the secret to its success lies in a nurtured vineyard, more than four decades of experience, and a commitment to the consumer. Mike Press started his career with the best, working alongside Max Schubert at Penfolds before moving on to Seppelt and Krondorf. Mike Press was chief winemaker at Mildara Bass when they won the Jimmy Watson Trophy. He planted his Kenton Valley vineyard in 1998 to focus on growing quality grapes to on-sell. Boasting 85 acres of scenic beauty, Kenton Valley Vineyards, was chosen because of its cool climate, its altitude of 500 metres above sea level, and its rainfall, which is similar to Bordeaux in France. Initially the focus was on semi-retirement. Mike wanted to get in touch with the land by growing the best grapes possible and then on-selling at the end of vintage. Mike Press»
