Mount Langi make Victoria's most profound Shiraz, the confluence of parched and inhospitable terrains, exhilerated by the sobering Grampians winds, coax grapevines into concentrating flavours and intensifying the natural fruit sugars as berries slowly ripen. The wines of Mount Langi are renowned for their redolent bramble spice perfumes and generously weighted palates, as supported by such long lived, stately tannins. A luxurious effervescent Shiraz, extravagantly aged two years in own bottle and fashioned to a clean, ebullient contemporary styling.
The Mount Langi property was originally planted to Shiraz in 1870. Re-established to vines in 1963, the quality of fruit produced from a diversity of terroirs created an ardent following amongst red wine enthusiasts. The underlying soils and ambient mesoclimes vary somewhat, contributing to the complexity of Mt Langi Shiraz. A collation of harvests across several vineyard blocks, some of which are laboriously hand picked, are inoculated to choice Maurivin yeasts and treated to ten days of hand plunged ferment on skins. Upon completion, batches are filled to a selection of well seasoned, 228 litre French oak barriques for twenty four months, followed by assemblage and bottling in true Methode traditionelle.
TASTING NOTES
Dense dark purple colour, a fine persistent mousse. Dark berry fruit nose, festive cake and raspberry notes, leather complexity and earth notes. A full palate of red berry and suet pudding characters, maraschino and liquorice on a pliant structure of gentle tannic weight, liqueur cocoa oak and effusive berry fruit sweetness seasoned by mixed spice. A seemingly endless, gently drying finish.

About the Mount Langi Winery
The vineyards of Mount Langi Ghiran are nestled between two dramatically beautiful mountain ranges on the southern edge of the Great Dividing Range in Western Victoria, 180 km west of Melbourne
Pronounced "Mount Langee Jeeran", the name is Aboriginal for "Home of the Yellow-Tailed Black Cockatoo". The initial vineyards were planted by the Fratin brothers in 1963, on the site of a vineyard that had been in operation at the turn of the century. Their first plantings were Shiraz, and initially, the grapes were sold to neighbouring winemakers. The exceptionally high quality of their fruit quickly drew a strong following and encouraged the Fratins to begin making their own wine. Mount Langi»
