Ta-daa! In-toe-ducing the exciting new take on Shiraz which is attracting cohorts around the globe. To satisfy Australia's growing thirst for approachable red wines with funk and easy drinking modern styling, the boys and girls at Barefoot got down and together to over deliver on a contemporary Shiraz that drinks beautifully alongside good food or even slightly chilled. So what's afoot? A deliciously sociable style of fruit forward Shiraz that's brimming with ripe cherry and spiced plum flavours, just perfect for those carefree soirees, footloose and fancy free, all puns intended.
Vinified from parcels of choice Shiraz grapes to create a fresh, consistent and enjoyable style, transferred to static fermenters while being treated to pumpovers eight times daily. A course of five days maceration on skins is followed by pressing and nine months maturation prior to assemblage. Components are matured under American oak to contribute complexity and integration. Gentle macerations, supple oak and early release achieve a generously flavoured, fruit forward Shiraz of excellent varietal definition, personality and charm.
TASTING NOTES
Crimson red with brick red hues. Lifted red berry fruit with mocha and maple oak influence. Full bodied, deeply flavoured wine with lavender aromas and robust flavours of blackberry jam. Hints of mocha and toasty vanilla complete the velvety smooth finish. A wonderful style to be enjoyed now, perfect with steak or spiced chicken, robust pastas or salsa and chips.

More About Barwang Wines
McWilliam's Barwang Vineyard is situated along the southwest slopes of the Great Dividing Range, near Young in New South Wales, at an altitude of 520m
Hilltops enjoys adequate and reliable rainfall, with mild days and cool nights, allowing for the slow, even ripening of fruit. The region’s high altitude, cool prevailing winds from the Great Dividing Range which offset diurnal temperatures, and the high minerality of the soil are three significant elements which combine to make the Hilltops a distinctive wine producing region. A dry summer and autumn, with cool nights and mild days exacerbate the extended ripening period. Heavy snowfall and frost in winter are quite common; and whilst substantial rainfall occurs in the growing season, most falls in spring. Barwang»
