One of the nation's most widely enjoyed and enduring range of wines, there is a tradition of quality, character and consistency that is universally synonymous with Yellow Label. Wolf Blass can rely on some of South Australia's finest vineyards for parcels of Shiraz grapes with superb concentration of flavours, developed natural sugars and markedly smooth tannins. The addition of a small portion of Viognier has an awesome effect on Shiraz, contributing wonderful floral fragrances, embellishing the colour and adding fine textures to the palate.
The award total for Wolf Blass now stands at over 3,000 awards in international and Australian wine shows and includes an unprecedented four Jimmy Watson trophies. In 2001 The International Wine and Spirit Competition recognised the achievements of Wolf Blass, with an award for the Best Australian Wine Producer. Ever since the inaugural 1966 vintage, Yellow Label has developed a strong reputation for quality and consistency. Shiraz and Viognier grapes are crushed and inoculated in a mix of fermenters, vinified and pressed before a brief maturation under a combination of French and American oak, to retain the wine's primary focus on the fresh fruit characters. Alcohol 14.0%
TASTING NOTES
Vibrant crimson colour with purple hues. Aromatic red fruits of raspberry and cherry are given a lovely floral lift with the addition of Viognier, which contributes attractive hints of ginger and apricot, violet and spice. A medium bodied red, sweet berry fruits on the palate with a silkiness and slipperyness from the Viognier. A textural wine with gentle, round tannins adding length on the finish. To accompany game pie or rare duck fillet.

About Wolf Blass Wines
The Wolf Blass winery is located at the epicentre of the Australian wine industry, the Barossa Valley and has produced some of Australia's finest wines since 1966
Wolf Blass Wines International was born in 1973 when Wolf started his own business, purchasing a 2.5 acre land holding with an old army shed outside Nuriootpa, at the northern end of the Barossa Valley. John Glaetzer joined the company and from 1974-1976 Wolf Blass Wines won three consecutive Jimmy Watson Trophies, the Black Label generated substantial publicity and hype. From this time onwards growth was impressive with Wolf Blass Yellow Label and Riesling becoming Australia's top selling red and white wine. Wolf Blass»
