Johann is the icon red of the Jacob's Creek range. Johann displays a seamless integration of high quality Shiraz and Cabernet fruit sourced from the best South Australian vineyards. Winemakers monitor blocks carefully throughout the ripening period, sampling the fruit to ensure it is harvested at maximum flavour ripeness and acid balance. Johann has been bottled after an extended period of ageing in the finest oak barrels. Kept under the Jacobs Creek cellars for development, it will delight all discerning red wine enthusiasts who choose to savour it today.
Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz are all treated separately throughout vinification. Grapes are de-stemmed and crushed to small static fermenters for inoculation by neutral strains of yeast. Temperatures are allowed to peak at around 28C before chilling back to 22C. Fermenters are pumped over regularly to ensure thorough yet gentle extractions. Some Cabernet parcels remain on skins for several days of additional maceration. Each ferment is separately pressed, Shiraz is filled to new French and American oak hogsheads, Cabernet to new French oak hogsheads for spontaneous malolactic and eighteen months maturation. Only the finest barrels are included into the final wine. Alcohol 14.5%
TASTING NOTES
Full depth crimson colour. Rich and complex, showing a harmonious blend of ripe blackberry and plum with liquorice bouquets from Shiraz, refined cassis fruits of the Cabernet supported by cedary vanilla oak. The palate is intense, layers of concentrated stylish fruit seamlessly integrated with the finest oak. Full bodied in structure, such well structured tannins contributing elegance and finesse while providing perfect balance with the wine's intense expressions of ripe varietal fruit. An engrossing spectrum of complex characters have become fully integrated after the extended barrel maturation, carrying the fruit to a long, rounded finish, all factors coalescing into a breathtaking Shiraz Cabernet wine.

About Jacobs Creek Wines
The history of Jacob's Creek begins with the earliest settlement of South Australia
Colonel William Light, who surveyed the city of Adelaide in 1836, made his way northeast to the Barossa Valley, which he named after an English victory in the south of Spain during the recent Napoleonic Wars. Later, when William Jacob surveyed the Barossa in 1839, he and his brother John took up land in the Hundred of Moorooroo; a word derived from the aboriginal meeting of two waters The two waters involved were the North Para River and a creek, which fed into it. The creek was later named Jacob’s Creek after William Jacob. Today, the Jacob brothers small cottages still stand, overlooking Jacob's Creek. Jacobs Creek»
