Prior to launching Glen Eldon, Richard Sheedy consolidated on his experience as winemaker by taking charge at two world class purveyors of Barossa Shiraz, the equally eminent houses of Elderton and St Hallett. Sheedy knows from Barossa Shiraz, his estate vineyard at Tanunda on the Valley floor was selected for its mesoclime and distinctive flavours imparted to the wine. An alchemy of soil and rainfall, row facing and pruning, combined with attention to detail in vineyard management yields small yet concentrated bunches of vibrant Shiraz grapes.
Seventeen parcels from three distant vineyards are separately crafted into different wines, to be ultimately assembled into a seamless expression of Barossa goodness, character and charm. Shiraz grapes reach healthy sugar Baume before fruit can be hand picked and delivered to the winery for crushing. Grapes are destemmed, split and dropped into traditional open fermenters, inoculated with rehydrated yeast culture and vinified for several days. Ferments are treated to several rack and returns for extraction of flavour and colour. Two years maturation in American and French hogsheads integrates Glen Eldon beautifully while building outstanding structure and balance.
TASTING NOTES
Deep red brick colour. Dark chocolate and plum overtones, with the spice of fine oak, cocoa, vanillan and clove. Intense mixed berries to the palate, white pepper and spice. Brilliantly integrated oak, a firm but balanced tannin structure, Dry Bore offers elegance, power and finesse. Ideally suited to the most flavoursome red wine braise, roast beef and good cheese.

About Glen Eldon Winery
Glen Eldon Wines is a family owned and operated winery established by Mary and Richard Sheedy in 1997
Glen Eldon Wines has vineyards located throughout the Barossa Floor and Eden Valley, each one selected for it’s micro-climate and distinctive flavour attributes for the final wine in mind. The main vineyard and cellar is located at the Glen Eldon property in Eden Valley, it was only fitting to honour this brand with the Glen Eldon name. The property was first settled in the 1880s by the Herbig family, who planted vines, fruit trees and ran cattle and sheep. In 1890 the homestead, stables and cellar were built and the Herbig Family began to make the property prosper. Today Richard and Mary call Glen Eldon home. All the vineyard and winery operations are centralised from their headquarters at Glen Eldon. Glen Eldon»
