Who better to craft luscious Yarra Valley Pinot Noir than one of Australia's leading chocolatiers? The passionately gastronomical Peter Wilson also spent ten years making wine at the illustrious Yarra Yering. He settled on a site of pristine natural endowments and fortuitous climes, a place which yields harvests of the most splendid Yarra Valley fruit. The viticulture here is completely holistic, achieving the quality of Pinot Noir which can articulate fully its provenance and sense of place. Match with crackling pork, your favourite duckling or côte de veau.
Peter Wilson decided on the moniker Whitebox because the vineyard is sanctuary to one of the largest remnant stands of White Box eucalypts. Ecologically responsible vineyard management and a love of nature remain at the heart of Whitebox viticulture. A partnership between Stuart Wines Company and the Department of Sustainability and Environment is ensuring this ecosystem is preserved for a multitude of plant life, birds and animals that make this their home. The vineyard site is free of frosts and disease pressure is low due to the dry climate in the growing season. The proof of soil health is in the wines, superbly balanced Pinot Noir of the most exquisite fruit and smoothest tannins.
TASTING NOTES
Crimson purple hues. Lifted floral aromas combine with black cherry, white pepper, barnyard and subtle earthy notes. Cherry strawberry flavours, juicy plum and spiced oak, the palate is bright, displaying firm, persistent, elegant tannin structure, finely detailed with a touch of savoury stalk, a wine of balance and length, resolving on a tasty sassafras finish.

More About White Box Wines
Stuart Wines’s White Box Vineyard is an exciting new venture located at Cornella in the famed Heathcote winegrowing area
Heathcote has earned a reputation as one of the most exciting wine producing regions in Australia, yielding reds of outstanding colour, varietal definition, elegance and ageing potential. Shiraz is the variety that has established the reputation of the area and makes up the majority of existing plantings. The moderate climate, dry summers and deep, red Cambrian soils of the area have proved ideal conditions for the variety. The mild climate and unique terroir produces bold, full-bodied, smooth red wines and is particularly famous for its empathy to shiraz. White Box»
