The Shire of Nillumbik is steeped in history, dotted with villages and towns, each with its own special magic. An exclusively estate grown wine, the eight acre Redbox Vineyard was originally planted to Chardonnay in the 1980s, it's mature vines yield an elegant, creamy style. Delightful peach and stone fruit aromas are supplemented by tropical fruit characters, making Redbox the ideal accompaniment to richer white meat and cheese pasta recipes.
At the western end of the Yarra Valley in the village of Kangaroo Ground you will find Redbox Winery. Set on a property named Wildfell by the first landholder in 1851, the site is gingerly tended and harvested to yield the finest fruit. As spring turns into summer and vines are flourishing, the entire Yarra Valley is dressed in brilliant hues of green. The local folklore has it that around this time, a pot of gold awaits to be discovered amongst the vines, where a rainbow normally settles between showers. Chardonnay is whole bunch pressed, cool tank fermented and teated to lees stirring over the course of a month, improving texture and infusing the wine with mouthfilling flavours. Promptly bottled while young and fresh. Alcohol 12.3%
TASTING NOTES
Bright straw colour. Aromas of peach and of honey dew melon, tropical fruits with lees derived influences of cashew and vanilla bean. Rich and generous palate expressing citrus, pumpkin and apricots, well structured with long fruit and a measured acidity, finishing to creamy textures and exquisite balance.

About Redbox Winery
Right in the centre of the enchanting Shire of Nillumbik, at the western end of the Yarra Valley in the village of Kangaroo Ground you will find the Redbox Winery
Set on a property, named Wildfell by the first landholder in 1851, the Redbox Estate's fruit is gingerly tended and harvested to produce a fine range of wines. The Shire of Nillumbik is steeped in history and dotted with villages and towns, each with its own special magic. Names like Cottle's Bridge, Panton Hill, St Andrews, Hurstbridge and Wattle Glen all hinting of a culture brought to the region by the Scottish settlers in the early 1800s. The eight acre vineyard was originally planted to Riesling, Chardonnay and Cabernet in 1986. It's proximity to Melbourne and the rolling hills broken by dense stands of Red Box and other eucalypts makes it a haven for weekend visitors and wine tasters from all over. Redbox»
