A mostly Chardonnay wine with smaller components of complimenting white varietal grapes grown to some of the finest vineyards, including the Davey family's own. Red Knot brings together the best of McLaren Vale, big bold wines which offer consistency, alluring bouquets and a stylish palate with good varietal character. Fashioned to give white wine lovers what they want, the Shingleback team has constructed a generously flavoured classic dry white in vibrant fruit driven styling, completely unoaked and innately suited to contemporary Al fresco cuisine.
McLaren Vale is renowned as a wine region of great beauty that consistently produces high quality wines with rich flavours.Shingleback's vines are nourished by a favourable Mediterranean climate of wet winters, dry summers and plenty of sunshine. The proximity to St. Vincent Gulf, coincidentally named after the patron saint of winemakers, enhances the marvelous microclimes with warmer spring and autumn conditions, and has a cooling effect on the summers. The whole region produces some of South Australia's most full bodied and richly flavoured harvests of Chardonnay. Following harvest and fermentation, the components have been assembled into a delightfully unwooded wine.
TASTING NOTES
Pale straw with a youthful green tint. Honeydew melon and peach aromas, with highlights of pear, citrus and creamy cashew. Fresh citrus and peach fruit fill the middle palate and flow through to the long finish, defined by subtle French oak. A medium bodied, lightly oaked Chardonnay with softness and a finely balanced fresh acidity.
