It is a fact that Stonier introduced Australian Pinot to the world and Australian palates to Pinot. Stonier know their work, assembling some of the most successful of Mornington's regionally distinctive wines. A splendid, forward drinking, fruit filled Pinot Noir with a touch of savouryness that's graced the table alongside many a roasted duck across the length and breadth of the nation. Its bright aroma of juicy red berries and characteristic ruby purple appearance is relied upon to deliver pure Pinot pleasure to paladins everywhere, year in and year out.
Grapes are selected from growers who have been supplying Stonier for years, a select group of hand tended vineyards located amongst rolling hills, with an epicentre around Balnarring, Merricks and Merricks North. Modest yields from some of the younger vineyards which contribute fruit, mean that the pure, ripe flavours are well balanced by fine, plentiful tannins. The gently de-stemmed fruit is vinified in a combination of small open vessels and larger potter fermenters. A component is treated to fermentation as whole bunches. The wine is pressed and transferred to a combination of new and prior use French oak barrels for completion of malolactic, followed by ten months maturation, racking and bottling.
TASTING NOTES
Bright ruby red. Intense cherry aroma, earthyness and dark chocolate hints, characters of beetroot and red liquorice, subtle French oak adding complexity. The palate shows vibrant cherry and plum fruit flavours with some spiced, earthy complexity. The structure is weighty with fine but grippy tannins providing balance to the intense fruit. A lovely, drying, fruity, raspberry finish.

About Stonier Winery
In 1978, Brian Stonier and his wife Noel established the Stonier vineyard in the coastal town of Merricks, one hour southeast of Melbourne, ten minutes from the challenging surf beaches of Bass Straight
Decades later, the name Stonier is widely recognised as a producer of exceptional Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. At the heart of Stonier lies a meticulous approach to viticulture and winemaking. A desire to reflect the imprint of each site, through subtle variations in flavour and texture, interweaving these differences to form elegant wines of seamless complexity has earned Stonier a place amongst the best Pinot Noir and Chardonnay producers in Australia. Stonier sources Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from over 150 acres across 5 selected sub-regions; Merricks North, Balnarring, Tuerong, Red Hill and at the estate vineyards in Merricks which span over 50 acres.
