Distinguished Langtons Classification. An international icon, very limited quantities are ever made. Black Label represents the zenith of the enduring Aussie Shiraz Cabernet style, established in the 1960s by industry legends Wolf Blass and John Glaetzer. The philosophy which drives the Wolf Blass team is to make the finest red wine from the highest quality fruit of vintage. Rigorous site selection and superior viticulture are essential to this timeless construct of super premium Shiraz Cabernet, an articulate exemplar of the elegance and power which define Wolf Blass.
Wolf Blass Black Label is about power, sophistication and richness. It is always a classic Australian blend based on Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon, largely vintage dependent as to which is more predominant. Other red varietals can be included in the final assemblage to add complexity and palate depth, such as Merlot or Malbec, which enhance vibrancy and complexity on the palate. Harvests are crushed, de stemmed and separately fermented for up to a fortnight on skins, plunged and pumped over for optimal richness. Batches are pressed slightly sweet into an extravagantly high proportion of new French and American oak barrels for completion of ferments and twenty two months maturation. Alcohol 15.0%
TASTING NOTES
Deep purple in colour. Intense lifted blackcurrant fruit, layered with underlying notes of coffee and dark chocolate, hints of eucalypt and mint. The rich fruit flows onto the palate, mintyness and extremely fine oak, a wine which is absolutely aiming to please. Multiple layers, a tight yet complex palate, fine balance, full, rich and opulent yet elegant, with persistence of flavour embraced by supple, velvety tannins.

About Wolf Blass Winery
The Wolf Blass winery is located at the epicentre of the Australian wine industry, the Barossa Valley and has produced some of Australia's finest wines since 1966
Wolf Blass Wines International was born in 1973 when Wolf started his own business, purchasing a 2.5 acre land holding with an old army shed outside Nuriootpa, at the northern end of the Barossa Valley. John Glaetzer joined the company and from 1974-1976 Wolf Blass Wines won three consecutive Jimmy Watson Trophies, the Black Label generated substantial publicity and hype. From this time onwards growth was impressive with Wolf Blass Yellow Label and Riesling becoming Australia's top selling red and white wine. Wolf Blass»
