Exceptional Langtons Classification. Henschke take a puristic, holistic approach that has been passed down from generation to generation and has now become intuitive. A pure single vineyard wine of spectacular concentration, Hill of Grace is a wonderfully complex old vine Shiraz that unfolds more flavours and perfumes as it evolves in the glass.
Vintage 1992 was preceded by a late wet winter, although the yearly rainfall was 50mm below average. The mild spring was ideal for flowering and encouraged excellent berry set. A long, dry cool summer with the coolest January on record delaying harvest. Despite the predictions of being just above average, actual yields were only 10 per cent less than the big 1990 vintage. Hand picked grapes are vinified in traditional open top fermenters, followed by extended maturation in a selection of completely new French and American oak hogsheads before assemblage. Alcohol 14.1%
TASTING NOTES
Crimson colour. Leathery, earthy and herbal aromas, plum and spice notes. An intense and lush palate, layered with dark fruit flavours, before a refined textured finish on a length of velvety tannins.

More About Henschke Winery
Henschke is one of the longest established family names in the Barossa
Johann Christian Henschke purchased land for a farm at Keyneton in 1861, after fleeing religious persecution in Silesia. He planted a small vineyard and an orchard, and after initially making wine for family consumption produced his first commercial vintage in 1868, believed to be principally riesling and shiraz. Each subsequent generation built upon the reputation for quality, but it was fourth-generation Cyril Alfred Henschke who in 1958 created the wine that has most captured the red wine world's imagination - Hill of Grace.
