The stylish and hospitable west coast accord of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, from parcels of choice grapes, grown to some of the finest vineyards in Margaret River and Valley Swan. Generously proportioned yet judiciously supple, lovely sweet berry characters are seasoned by aromatic herbaceousness, a balance between perfumed fruit and background oak, Element is drinking beautifully now, immensely food friendly and can be counted on to match beautifully with pink lamb or sticky belly of pork.
Sandalford is located on property which formed part of Western Australia's second land title, it is one of the region's oldest and largest privately owned wineries. From vines planted to some of the Swan Valley's best vineyards, some very mature, up to fifty years of age, reflecting contemporary viniculture as expressed through the Element range. Immediately after harvest, fruit is destemmed, crushed and inoculated to choice yeasts. Cap management regimens and twice daily pumpovers are employed throughout the ferments for optimal extractions. Upon completion, batches are seeded for malolactic and treated to a term of age under a selection of seasoned French oaks before assemblage.
TASTING NOTES
Cherry red, magenta hues. Just smells of great Cabernet Merlot, lifted berry fruits, cassis and a dash of eucalypt, leafy Cabernet characters with plum and dusty notes floating through. Talk about bang for your buck here, distinctive minty blackcurrant, powerful and very intense, some nicely subdued hints of well integrated quality oak weave their way into the mix.

Western Australia's first Surveyor General, John Septimus Roe founded the 40 hectare Estate in 1840, which now includes 22 hectares under vine as well as housing the Winery, hospitality and tourism facilities and administration. He named the property Sandalford after the priory in Berkshire where his father was rector. The Estate formed part of the second land title in all of Western Australia.
