Y Series are fresh and flavoursome fruit driven wines of quality and consistency, expressing the true regional character of South Australia's most renowned viticultural precincts. Yalumba have allocated vast resources for the development of vineyards which specialize in the more esoteric varietals. Their efforts have been rewarded with some of Australia's finest examples of Pinot Grigio. An effusive wine with a balance of fruit and kernel characters, textural viscosity and bright citrus acidity.

One of the most inavaluable resources which sets Yalumba apart, is an estate funded nursery program that's dedicated to the development and enhancement of viticulture for some of the nation's more esoteric varietals. Selective hand picking is conducted at optimal ripeness, in some vineyards this can mean several passes through the rows. Fruit is chilled overnight in small slotted bins, whole bunch pressed to minimise colour and tannin extraction from the pink skins, followed by oxidative handling to naturally remove any remaining colour. Fermentations initiated by wild indigenous vineyard yeasts ensue on full solids. Components remain on lees until assemblage into a final wine of complexity and finesse.
