A pure wine from Shiraz grapes grown to pre-phylloxera material brought from Europe by early settlers in the middle 1800s. The site was originally granted by Charles Flaxman in 1842 for £1 per acre. It was then sold by George Fife Angas to Nicolaus Stanitzki who planted the vines onto rich alluvial soils in a shallow fertile valley just northwest of where the Henschke winery stands. Cyril Henschke, the fourth generation, made the first single vineyard bottling from these vines in 1958. The hand picked grapes are treated to a traditional vinification in open top fermenters. Matured in a combination of new and prior use French and American oak hogsheads for twenty one months prior to assembling. Alcohol 14.5%
