Stonewell is an internationally acclaimed wine, crafted from the finest, most concentrated Shiraz of each vintage. As usual, no more than a dozen small, old vineyards are selected for each vintage from Peter Lehmann's best growers, Bonview, Becker, Elmar, Hampel, Smith, Fiebiger, Gibson, Falky, Nash, Hammerling and Burdon, the oldest site was planted in 1885% The berries are small and sparse with crops typically less than 1.5 tons per acre. Stonewell is fermented and macerated on skins for up to two weeks with some partial barrel fermentation. After pressing and clarification, the wine is treated to maturation in a combination of French and American oak hogsheads for eighteen months. Alcohol 14.5%
