Wynn Estate was founded by Scottish pioneer John Riddoch, who planted vineyards in 1891 and completed the famous three gable winery in 1896. Vinified from the top 1% of Shiraz available to the Wynn winemaking team, Michael is a reminder that Coonawarra Shiraz at its best need never acquiesce to Cabernet Sauvignon. Assembled after a rigorous selection of the best barrels vinified from the finest parcels of the most exclusive blocks of old vines Shiraz, vintage 1990 was the first Michael to be bottled since the legendary 1955 edition. Michael is traditionally treated to an extended maturation in a selection of mostly new French oak barrels.
