RWT breaks with the established Penfold tradition of assembling fruit from across the greater coterie of South Australia's viticultural precincts, to deliver a pure Barossa Shiraz that's matured exclusively in a high proportion of new French oak. Parcels which are earmarked for inclusion must express a developed level of ripeness, balanced tannins and clear varietal characters, to realize a style of RWT that's opulent and fleshy, contrasting with Grange, which is more muscular and assertive. The finished wine is fashioned to feature gentle Barossa warmth and eloquent varietal brightness. RWT is matured fifteen months in a selection of new and one year old French oak hogsheads.
